This is our last week together in the Gateway Quilt Along! It has gone so fast! We’ve seen so many fabulous quilts being made, and you all have blown us away with your creative fabric selection, innovative twists to the original pattern, and the shear speed at which some of you are able to get a quilt put together!
We so appreciate every one of you who joined along – whether you have made only a few blocks so far or have completed the quilt and the Happy Scrappy bonus quilt!
We hate to see it all end. So please continue to use the hashtag as you finish up so we can see how they all turn out!
Thanks to everyone who entered the Week 4 giveaway and used the hashtag #gatewayqal2021. Congratulations to @normajeansews She won a Breaking News fat quarter bundle by Janine Vangool for Windham Fabrics! And to @ibbyrollert who won the Smol jelly roll from Ruby Star Society.
We’ll be doing both FB Live and IG Live again Wednesday, so be sure to join us and bring your questions! We’ll be happy to answer anything you need clarification on. We want this to be fun for you while you’re creating your quilt.
Week Five Video
In this week’s video we talk about different quilt ideas – for you or your quilter! Click here to see the video.
Our QAL Progress
Jenifer’s Version: For all of you who aren’t finished, you’re in good company! I only have 2 rows sewn! But below is what it will look like when it’s all put together! I’ll be sure to add it to the hashtag to keep you updated on my progress!
Fabric: Malibu by Heather Ross and Ruby + Bee Solids from Windham Fabrics.
Trisch’s Version: Not a whole lot of progress this week – I’ve been busy with a few other tasks. I have the first 4 columns done, I just need a few hours to churn out the rest. I’m hoping to find some time soon! For inquiring minds, I have yet to come across the missing block. But I do have several options if it doesn’t surface.
Fabric: Golden Hour by Alexia Marcelle Abegg of Ruby Star Society.
How to Enter the Week Five Giveaway
For the Week Five giveaway, show us your quilting! And if you aren’t that far along, tell us how you’re going to quilt it, whether you will be doing it or you’ll be farming it out! And a picture of where you are, of course! Don’t forget to use the hashtag #Gatewayqal2021 so we can all see!
The drawing will be Wednesday, February 10. We’ll draw a random winner during the Facebook Live session at 10 a.m. central. Two lucky quilters will win fabric bundles. Winners will be notified by email or direct message.
Weekly Live Q&A
Each week we host a live Q&A Session on both Facebook (10 a.m. CST/15:00 UTC) and Instagram (7 p.m. CST/Midnight UTC) if you need just a little more help or clarification on anything at all – or maybe you just want to spend some time with like-minded quilters. You can submit questions ahead of time here or post them during the live session.
It is important that you follow us on FB and/or IG to see these events. If you haven’t done so, here are the links:

(Drumroll Please) The Next QAL Will Be…
Wander! This is another great fabric showcase pattern. We’ll learn how to sew Y-seams like a pro! We also will use selvages to create the striped hexies or you can pick a striped fabric if you don’t save selvages or piece some stripes together. It will be a lot of fun and of course we’ll have the weekly videos and Lives IG and FB sessions! More information and sign ups will begin in March and #WanderQAL2021 will start April 5th! We hope to see you then!
