Bohemian Born Quilt Along: Month 4

Welcome to Month 4 of the Bohemian Born Quilt Along! We’re so glad you’re here!

This month we’re back to the large blocks – and there’s only 8 of them, so it will go fast. plus you’ve already made the Large Blocks with Triangles in Month 1, so you know what to do!

There is an update concerning Instagram we need to tell you about. Starting this month, you will no longer be able to follow hashtags, which means there’s no way for us to share our progress on IG anymore. However, you can tag us @everydaystitches and we’ll be able to see your posts and share them to our followers.

This is a huge change for how we do quilt alongs, but we’ll make it work. If you are on Facebook, joining our Quilt Along page is the best way to share your progress. You can join it here: Everyday Stitches Quilt Along

Month 4 Assignment

This month is almost a rinse and repeat of Row 1 except it also has 8 Large Triangle Units.

Row 4 instructions are found on page 19 of the Bohemian Born pattern.

Note: There is a clarification on page 19 Under Gather the pre-Cut Fabric, Fabric 9. It should read cut (8) 5″ x 13″ (not 5-1/4) x 8-1/2″). Make that note before you start Row 4.

Here’s what Row 4 entails:
1. Cutting (or gathering if you precut) the rectangles and squares.
2. Cutting the curves.
3. Piecing the Background/Arch units.
4. Piecing the Triangles.
5. Piecing and trimming the blocks.
6. Making the Large Triangle Units.
7. Finishing the Blocks.
8. Assembling the row.

Fabric Cutting

Supplies needed:
Row 4 Fabric
The Original (Large) Template Set

The fabric is first cut into rectangles and squares, then the curves are cut using the Original (Large) template set when we’re ready to sew.

If you choose your fabric row-by-row, for Row 4, you need:
Fabric 3 – 6″ x wof
Fabric 8 – 15″ x wof (width of fabric)
Fabric 9 -14″ x wof
Fabric 10 – 6″ x wof

The fabric numbers correspond to the numbers on the diagram on page 9 of your pattern. Cut your rectangles and squares according to the dimensions given in the first column under “Gather the Pre-Cut Fabric” on page 19.

Organization
Label everything carefully by using stickers or pinning a piece of paper on each stack with the information on it.

Making Row 4

Row 4 is made of 8 large Blocks with Triangles and 8 Large Triangle Units.

Step-by-step instructions to make the row are on page 19 of the pattern.

Each step takes you through detailed instructions with diagrams to make each section of the blocks. If you need additional help, we have video tutorials for every step. You can access those below and on our YouTube channel. You can subscribe to our channel while you’re there so you don’t miss any of our video tutorials.

How do I ask Trisch and Jenifer a question? The best way is on our Facebook group, Everyday Stitches Quilt Alongs. Chances are if you have a question, someone else has the same question so don’t be shy, ask there!

How do I connect with other quilters making the Boho quilt? Again, the Facebook group is the best place for this! Post your process shots, your finished blocks, anything you want to share!
